The Maoists
After a decade of armed struggle between the Maoists and Military forces and a fourteen month old Royal coup, people power on the streets of Kathmandu and in other cities across our land forced the King to hand over power to the House of Representatives. A ceasefire agreed by all parties is in place and Maoists leaders have been able to take part in talks with politicians in Kathmandu. Our expectations for the restoration of democracy, justice and sustained peace are high. Elections are now being planned for a Constituent Assembly and the establishment of a new constitution.
