Dolpa Shey Phoksundo National Park:

 

Shey Phoksundo National Park is the largest National park of Nepal, established in 1984, with an area of 355 sq. km. It is a shelter for blue sheep, Himalayan black bear, leopards, Shey Phocsundo Lake Dolpawolves and the exclusive snow leopard. It is an example of the trans Himalayan ecosystem. A nature walk around the Shey Phoksundo Nature reserve is recommended.The ancient settlements of Jagdullah, the Shey Phoksumdo National Park, ancient monasteries over 700 years old and other high altitude lakes, hot water springs, wide glacial valleys, high passes and crystal blue fresh water lakes are the main attractions of Dolpo.

Dolpo Heritage Trails

This circuit offers true taste of Dolpo life. It includes monastic tours in this predominant Buddhist area, with at least 1 Gompa (monastery) in every settlement. There are over 130 Gompas in this region. Visit Saldang, Dho, Chhark and Bhijer where some of the oldest Monasteries in the Himalayan region can be found, some are over 700 years old. The northern Dolpo is Buddhist domain while the southern area is Hindu influenced. However, we will find both these religion coexisting in many parts. Bala Tripura Sundari in Tripurakot is observed as a temple where both Hindu and Buddhist workshop and project cultural mergence. The circuit starts off at Juphal and goes through Dunai, Dho, Saldang, Phoksundo and Dunai to end in Juphal again. Covering both Upper and Lower Dolpo, This circuit can take upto 20 days or longer. It passes through the high Himalayan valley of Dho Tarap.

Day 01 : Arrival in Kathmandu meet and transfer to hotel

Day 02 : Trekking preparation in Katmandu O/n hotel

Day 03 : Fly to Nepalgunja in the afternoon and transfer to hotel

Day 04 : Fly to Juphal and commence trek O/n Camp

Day 05-20 : Commence trek to Jumla via Shey Phoksundo lake

Day 21 : Fly back to kathmandu via Nepalgunja

Day 22 : Free and leisure days in Kathmandu

Day 23 : Final departure.

Dolpa-Jomsom Trek

Dolpa is among most remote but beautiful parts of far WesternNepal. The highlights of this trek are the Turquoise lake of SheyPhoksundo lake situated at 3600m and Bon-po pre-Buddhist culture this is home to the elusive snow leopard and blue sheep

Day 02 : Trek preparation

Day 03 : Fly to Nepalgunja in the afternoon O/n hotel

Day 04: Fly to Juphal and commence trek O/n Camp

Day 05-24 : Commence trek to Jomsom crossing several high passes over 5000m via Shey Phoksundo lake

Day 25 : flight to Pokhara O/n Hotel

Day 26 : Pokhara rest O/n hotel

Day 27 : After breakfast return drive back to Kathmandu

Dolpa Exploratory Trekking

This trek to a hidden valley behind the Dhaulagiri massif begins from Juphal. This is among the more challenging treks in remote parts of Western Nepal. We will climb a series of passes over 5,000 meters In height. The highlights of this trek are unique mountain views, the Turquoise lake of Shey Phoksundo and Bon-po pre-Buddhist culture. This is home to the elusive snow leopard and blue sheep.
